Dealer Sales at Meccanuity 2016

Dear all,

You may have noticed the announcement made recently on Spanner II by Dave Taylor. Just in case you didn't here it is:

"ANNOUNCEMENT;-

... this is a convenient moment to announce our partial, not quite yet, retirement plans.

Marilyn and myself are now at/almost at, three score and ten and feel we need improve our work/life balance a bit. Over the last couple of years we've reduced our selling venues a bit and for 2016 we are now reluctantly giving up OXTON (mainly due to the distance) and SKEGNESS (mainly due to the time and effort required). We are still NMMG members and hope to be at Skegness maybe with a small model for the Friday/Saturday, treating it as a nice seaside break!

Otherwise we aim to trade normally at our other venues + on-line, at least for 2016. Thanks for the many years of support from our good NMMG friends and customers, though I'm afraid you haven't seen the last of us yet - the Meccano hobby is too permanently embedded in our souls."

I was surprised to read this, not because of Dave winding down a little but because he has chosen to drop Oxton and Skegness. He has given distance from his home as the reason. The distance he travels to Meccanuity at Coalbrookdale is further and this reinforces his loyalty to our club in that he had promised to support us for another year. He has supported us very well in the past and given our membership numbers and that we get very few visiting Meccanomen due to the museum entry fee he can't be getting rich from the takings at our meetings. We need to capitalise on Dave's support for the coming year. There is no other dealer that carries the variety of stock that he does and his stuff is easy to browse. The purpose of this message is to ask you to support him and in doing so to support TIMS. Modellers will want to buy his stock and TIMS will be one of the places that they will be able to do that.

Roger Thorpe, Secretary, TIMS.
