Looking for the latest information for Meccanuity 2015? Keep an eye on these pages in a few days time. In the meantime, lets take a look at some of the special events and activities going on this year. We start with the first event of this years exhibition, steam powered drag racing.

A brand new event for the 2015 exhibition, the steam drag racing stands a very good chance of being the slowest drag race ever held! Participants will race their steam powered Meccano vehicles against each other in knock out races, two participants per race. The winner of each round will go through to the next round, and so on, until we have a champion.

Just about any style/type of vehicle can be raced, as long as it fits the purpose built track, which is gratefully being constructed by one of our members, Ralph Laughton. In short the full length of the track will be around 16 feet long and will be divided in to two lanes with side walls and a central reservation. The maximum size of a vehicle to fit this track is 2ft (600mm) long and 10" (250mm wide). The racing will take place in the afternoon of 2nd May.

Please read the Live Steam Safety/Code of Practice and the Live Steam Power Drag Racing Rules.
